Sound of Music has been operating for over 10 years and in that decade, we have given our clients the kind of atmosphere and attention that has kept them coming back, album after album. With 10, 000 square feet to roam and record throughout our building, there's space for all kinds of projects; from solo singer/songwriters to 150 person gospel choirs. Any artist can buy the ingredients to make a home studio, but it takes professionals with years of experience to foster a fertile creative environment where you can relax, collaborate, and create while at the same time, capturing your performance.

Located in downtown Richmond, Virginia, the Sound of Music studio houses two rooms. Our 'A' studio is centered around a Sony 3036 analogue console from the late 80's. We utilize outboard pre-amps by Neve, API, Fairchild, and Amek; Dynamic effects and processing from Empirical Labs, Alan Smart, DBX, Eventide, Neve, Universal Audio, Lang, Otari MTR 90 2"/24-track, RADAR II 24-track hard disk recording system, Pro-Tools LE 6.4 via a Digi 002. Mix Ampex ATR 102 or Masterlink 24 bit CD.

Our 'B' studio is used primarily for overdubs, assembly and editing. It features the Sony DMX-R100 digital console.

Sound of Music offers free lodging to visiting artists including a spacious lounge with sleeping quarters, kitchen, and showeras well as Cable TV, PS2, DVD, and VCR. With delivery available from almost every style of restaurant you might crave, and just a few blocks to numerous clubs and bars, Richmond is a very cool place to hang out.
